We had a client in Paradise Valley, AZ, reach out to us to upgrade their backyard. With a newly constructed home, they had just dirt, but it gave us a clean slate to work with and bring their vision to fruition! They knew they wanted a southwest design perfect for the dry, arid climate, so we had our landscape architect collaborate with them to put it together. Once they approved the design, we moved forward with the installation! This project involved several elements, including artificial turf, paver stepping stones, and xeriscaping, to achieve a desert aesthetic that complements the surrounding landscape. Now, our client has the perfect backyard space for hosting neighbors, friends, and family!

This Landscaping Project Started With a Consultation & Design

Since our client had a newly constructed home with only a dirt backyard, we wanted to start with a consultation to get an idea of what they were looking for. During this initial meeting, we discussed their goals for their outdoor space, which was a southwest design complete with desert-friendly plantings and pops of greenery. So, we had our landscape architect create a design rendering and collaborate with them to make the necessary changes, ensuring everything aligned with their vision for the space. Once they approved the design, we moved forward with installing all the elements!

We create 2D and 3D landscape design renderings to help you visualize your project before any work begins!

Artificial Turf & Paver Stepping Stones Were Installed in Our Client's Backyard

The next step of this landscaping project was to install artificial turf in our client's backyard! The synthetic grass was in the center of the space, infusing lush greenery that required little maintenance. Our team installed the turf with precision, ensuring a seamless look and that it would hold up to wear and tear.

Additionally, we incorporated large paver stepping stones along the turf's edge closest to their patio, the green grass creating an eye-catching accent in between each one. These pavers allow a seamless transition from the patio into the artificial turf, blending the hard surfaces with the softer, more natural elements.

We Finished This Landscape Transformation With Xeriscaping

The last step of this landscape transformation was to incorporate xeriscaping! We surrounded the artificial turf with a rock ground cover, installing various-sized boulders throughout to bring dimension and further cultivate that desert aesthetic. From there, a variety of drought-friendly plants were strategically placed atop the retaining wall in the corner and beds around the turf, all of which require little water and thrive in the dry, arid climate. Not only do these plants add to the southwest design our client wanted, but they also bring unique structure and depth to their backyard. With everything complete, they now have a cohesive, visually appealing outdoor space that complements the surrounding Arizona landscape and offers the perfect setting for gathering with friends, family, and neighbors.
